Construction -  Instrument Pneumatic Tech

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrument / Pneumatic Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of pneumatic systems on land facilities, offshore platforms, rigs, and vessels. This role requires a deep understanding of pneumatic systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety in challenging offshore environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Setup: Install, configure, and calibrate pneumatic components such as valves, actuators, cylinders, compressors, and related equipment on offshore facilities.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on pneumatic systems to ensure reliable operation and identify issues before they lead to system failures.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with pneumatic systems, including air leaks, pressure fluctuations, and component malfunctions, to minimize operational downtime.
  • System Testing: Conduct tests on pneumatic systems to ensure they meet performance specifications and safety standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and modifications performed on pneumatic systems. Ensure that schematics and technical manuals are up to date.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with operations, management and offshore technicians to maintain and repair integrated systems.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and best practices.  Ensure all work is performed with a strong emphasis on safety.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in pneumatics, hydraulics, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working with pneumatic systems, Offshore experience preferred.
  • Certifications: Offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET, OGUK Medical) required; certifications in pneumatics or industrial maintenance are a plus. If these are not currently held, they will be provided upon hire.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of pneumatic systems, components, and their operation.
    • Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s, SAFE Charts, Cause and Effect, pneumatic schematics and technical documentation.
    • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with related systems such as hydraulics and automation is advantageous.
    • Experience in planning routes for tray, fabricating tray and brackets, installing various types of control panels and associated components / systems.
    • Ability to fabricate and install single or group tubing effectively.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote, challenging environments.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Schedule: As Required.
  • Work in various weather conditions, including exposure to high winds, heavy machinery noise, and confined spaces.
  • Physically demanding tasks may be required, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
